Help finding a lighting solution

Hi we have a large open plan dining/living room extension. We have an island but we would like to compliment this with some lighting above it in addition to the spotlights. The metal beam that holds up the ceiling is above the island and not very high so I worry a long pendant will just look wrong. Does anybody have any solutions? Thanks in advance.

Hi Andrew,

Here are a few suggestions I think may help you to decide which lighting is possibly best.

Brooklyn 3 Light Industrial Ceiling Pendant Bar - Satin Chrome

Dimpled Glass Bowl Easy to Fit Ceiling Lamp Shade - Glass

I think these lights would look really nice above the island, however if you're not too keen here are some alternatives.

5 Light Tiered Glass Shade with Aluminium Rods - Chrome & Glass

4 Light Adjustable Spotlight Bar with White Shades - Chrome

Hi. Sounds a bit boring but we went for a an off-white colour for our corner sofa and it has stood the test of time (albeit with some light stains - wine, kids etc!). I'm not knowledgeable enough to say what fabric it is though.

What a great idea, Steph. I hadn't considered keeping the bed facing the same way but shifting forward. I love the way that the mirror and wardobe-facing drawers make this its own area. Tricky one. The banks look like they're designed for grass and I for one think it looks great! Love the fact it's metal. Have you considered part hard standing areas (tiled?) and part grass?
