Comments (29)Hi you two, you've been so very helpful. I've ordered a few GP & J samples so I can't wait to get them! You've been great with advise so much so I recommended Houzz on Facebook, not your names specifically incase you didn't want that but you've certainly helped me. Don't think I'll go for an aqua wallpaper I think it might be a bit much as I'd like to paper all the walls up to pic rail, then paint above, but I love the herons - unusual, modern yet in keeping. Sometimes I wish we didn't have a period property as there is a lot of work to do. We moved in in March and it's an uphill struggle but I know it will be worth it in the end! I'm currently covered in wallpaper & paint specks....See MoreWhich order to do things in? - total kitchen reno
Comments (4)I concur with Ed, you're better off with a builder who will organise everything for you as he goes. But, generally, you :- Need to know where the plumbing and drainage work is going, Then you build your shell up ( the steel / the window work ) Then first fix plumbing and electrics, ( know where every light, lightswitch, socket cover and tap is going. Do the floor Put the kitchen in Finish the plumbing ( taps ) / Electrics (socket covers, lights ) Basically, you need to know down to the last light switch what is going where, plan for it meticulously, and you shouldn't go wrong! Comments (21)Always intrigued by how different people have such strong and mixed views on choices like this! No 2 is my personal preference - looks more modern and "integral". I find the other 2 designs look like after-thought bolt-ons and make it look like an older house that's trying to be something it is not. The middle design doesn't feel that way to me. But it's only a personal view.... ;-) Caldicot Kichens...See MorePlease help me decide which tiles for bathroom
Comments (9)Minnie, This photo may be more accurate - I’ve propped them up as best I can on the bath (current bath to be replaced with claw-foot roll top). The shower tray will be white acrylic and there will be no tiles at wash-hand basin, just shower tiles and the herringbone floor tiles. Cle, thanks for your comment though I completely disagree with you - metro/subway tiles have been around since the last century and are classic - they just happen to currently be trendy! I do not slavishly follow trends but I live in an old cottage and the traditional style floor and subway tile suit the property perfectly. My bathroom is naturally dark, which I like, and want to work with hence the dark taupe herringbone floor tiles. There is really not a huge difference in the shades of white so I am probably over-analysing because I made a mistake choosing shower tiles before....See Moredazswife
