Certainly agree about loosing the curtains. Either silver venetian blinds, vertical blinds, or plantation shutters would make that area cleaner and tidier. (If you are not overlooked, how about leaving any window coverings at all). As for the feature wall -not sure about the white brick effect, as I feel that there would be too much of the same colour, and it would not stand out as a feature wall. There are many softer shades on the market now, and depending on the remainder of your room, choose a soft shade, either duck egg blue, or soft plum, and use this colour to accessorise in cushions, or a picture in same colour, but something else to bring the items together. With the emulsion, I would use a soft sheen rather than matt, as the soft sheen is easier to clean (I notice you have children), and reflects the light back into the room. Hope some of this helps.

Can you live with them as wood for a few months first ? As a little natural element in the kitchen might be nice ? You can add white or black fittings to the window.

Hi. Firstly, I think the pale grey woodwork and dark windows could look quite sophisticated in combination. However, if that's not your cup of tea, it is perfectly feasible to paint your PVC windows with specialist paints (Sandtex and Kolorbond are two of the options) to achieve a more contemporary look for your room. If you do paint them, consider painting the skirting, walls and window frames in the same grey colour. This way, the frames and skirting will visually disappear creating a more cohesive look. We love those kind of extensions - loads of natural light flooding in from the roof lantern and bifolds and you will gain a valuable addition to the property that can be used comfortably all year round that will seamlessly link indoor and outdoor spaces when required. As already suggested, we think you should go for anthracite on both in and out. The look will be more contemporary (which you indicated you want) and the mix of styles already in the house will mean they will not look out of place. You may also save a significant extra cost and perhaps some of the lead time. I attach a mock-up of the indoor scene you posted with some greyed windows that should give some idea of what the colour will look like if not the style... For a reference, here is a pic of a similar extension you are having that uses a mix of anthracite bifold doors and roofing beams, but older style white windows... Hope it helps.
