anthracite or white interior on new aluminium windows?

Will it look odd or dark if we go for anthracite on the interior of our replacement aluminium windows as well as outside and date our house in time or is it the more contemporary thing to do? It is also cheaper
We have an old property with low ceilings that we are renovating but are also building an extension with an anthracite roof lantern and Bifold doors. I have to decide by Friday!

I'd tend towards anthracite in and out, especially if you plan to have glazing bars, since they stand out less when they're darker. In fact, my main concern would be about the general design / pattern / proportions of the windows, since this will do more than anything to define the character of a house with a plain rendered exterior. You may have already looked into this and decided whether to relate in some way to the original period of the house or do a contemporary alternative.

Thank you Dale, we were planning on going minimal and contemporary as the views out are amazing so we thought we would make the most of the view. Literally just split down the middle in terms of partitions. The house has had 7 additions through the years so is all styles.

Sliding doors are proving very popular at the moment as they can stack to one side and not protrude into the garden space and be easier to move than full set of bi-folds so that would an approximate opening of about 4m with 3 x 1.250m (plus frame ) panel of glass that would all stack in parallel inline. Or you could try panoramic doors they are more versatile as they are detachable from each other and give you more options for you layout at the finish. There a tutorial on you tube ? Do you have building control on these works as I am finding that architects are making us use a lot more steel as in a goal post design for stability, depending on how wide you want to go with the opening?

Thanks everyone for your comments. I am in the process of getting quotes for timber alternative windows (Evolution & Residence 7) these seem like a great compromise. Keeping the existing windows is not an option I want double glazing and we definitely do not want the hassle of repainting every few years! This way we can keep the character and not ace the hassle of maintenance which seems like a win win, the image below is the look I’m really liking at the moment! Thanks all. That's really helpful. @bchillman5 - love your flush windows, and the astragal lines - what manufacturer are they? And you are right - it is a very similar look house, and I agree that the paler grey suits the stone better. So thank you - I am very grateful for this image. We love those kind of extensions - loads of natural light flooding in from the roof lantern and bifolds and you will gain a valuable addition to the property that can be used comfortably all year round that will seamlessly link indoor and outdoor spaces when required.

As already suggested, we think you should go for anthracite on both in and out. The look will be more contemporary (which you indicated you want) and the mix of styles already in the house will mean they will not look out of place. You may also save a significant extra cost and perhaps some of the lead time.

I attach a mock-up of the indoor scene you posted with some greyed windows that should give some idea of what the colour will look like if not the style...

For a reference, here is a pic of a similar extension you are having that uses a mix of anthracite bifold doors and roofing beams, but older style white windows...
