Painting interior window frames

Hello, I'm looking for some advice on painting interior window frames. We have dark oak window frames, but the kitchen is all white and black and we want to paint the window frame white too. My question is, if we paint the kitchen window frame white, should we paint them white in The rest of the house too? Is it weird to have different coloured interior window frames?! Thanks

Can you live with them as wood for a few months first ? As a little natural element in the kitchen might be nice ? You can add white or black fittings to the window.

Hi, I have read a few posts about painting upvc windows. Great to see some success stories as I'm having trouble convincing OH to let me do them. Our windows are light oak upvc inside and out. As much as I would have loved white we live in a street where all the houses have woodgrain windows. Anyway, I would really like them to be white/offwhite inside. Just a few questions if anyone can help? How do you avoid brush marks? I realise the pattern of the grain will be seen. Did you paint interiors of the frames and sides of openers? Will the finish be durable? Any tips or advice would be welcome.

I personally would want to know 1. how easy is that paint to apply etc? This is quite a big and messy job to do and knowing me I'd start and probably wish I hadn't half way through! 2. have a serious search online to see if you can find images of homes of your era and type WITH that type of window colour. You don't want it to look like a mismatch! We have those Cotswold soft green painted windows in last house, but went because of the stone and age of house. In fact the local council bylaws insisted they were painted this colour and could order you to return to this colour if you didn't!

I know this thread is slightly old now, but I've just used Bedec msp paint on the outside of my upvc porch and it's amazing stuff! Would highly recommend (took me years to pluck up the courage to try it) I spoke to the company's rep and got advice on what to use. Clean with an anti-fungal cleaner (NOT sugar soap as that leaves a residue) let dry. Scour with a green scoured pad OR a v v fine sandpaper which is only to take off the sheen and not to scratch the plastic. Wipe clean with water and let dry. Apply the paint with a brush not too thickly or thinly. Wait to dry 2-6 hours then repaint. Takes one month to cure. My experience - I did black over brown and 2 coats was fine. I found all the brushes I tried (not real hair ones) did leave some marks but I think that's due to the paint. Don't go over it too much in one spot. It's quite thick - plasticed when it dries so work quickly. Less of an issue inside when the sun isn't heating it up of course. Water based so cleans up easily and good range of colours. No primer required so v speedy job! I debated whether to try this or the bullseye 123 primer etc but I'm glad I went for this as it was a lot less work and it looks brilliant.

i think nice bright white walls go lovely with a wooden kitchen. Grey would also work, but I much prefer the white. If you have the space, or maybe remove that funny little unit on the right of the window, you could add a couple of natural wood shelves which would give it a more modern feel. I couldn’t find any images of dark worktops, but I think this picture shows how trendy wood can look with white walls?
