Ugly UPVC windows
Comments (16)Hello Ffion, Please don't replace with White UPVC they are absolutely horrible. You are very lucky they are as nice as they are. So my suggestion is to paint with a primer like zinsser or another brand that will adhere to plastic and then paint a colour like charcoal, not too black.. If you were considering to replace the windows then definitely don't go down the upvc route. They devalue properties... but the good thing is that yours are nicer than most! I don't even mind the window panes too much as I think you will make gr8 strides just by painting the brown plastic.. Of course... this applies to the front door too... as you can do the same... Think a charcoal here too would be lovely... 2 nice square slate looking planters with something lovely either side of the door would be rather nice too.. Will you keep the little "porch" ? Could be nice without it... I like the brick too and would leave that alone.. :))...See MoreRepainting UPVC windows - help with colour please
Comments (19)That was one I saw in the RAL colour chart he left with me. That would be nice, but I was aiming for a less grey colour. I found e-paint.co.uk a real help, you can colour match/compare colours and see all RAL/BS codes etc....See MoreBungalow Exterior Ideas
Comments (5)I think it’s a very smart house. You may find just painting the render will smarten it up, but of course if you want to make it smoother then by all means do so. I think painting the garage and front door in a matching shade, even though they cannot be seen at the same time, would also be good. Colours such as sage green always look lovely, but there are so many colours that will pep it up. I would leave the guttering, soffits etc unless they are in a poor state. The windows seem to suit the property, but if you want to go more modern, then I think you need to do it all, that is windows, front door, garage door. I visited someone recently (collecting a Gumtree purchase!) and they had dark grey windows with a very pale grey on the rendered walls on their bungalow and it did look lovely. Similar to the fourth picture below. Lastly, some greenery would help too, whether in pots, troughs or lift some of the block paving and plant in pockets. Here’s some ideas, some keeping it traditional and some more modern....See MoreMy boring 1950's bungalow frontage needs a make over please!
Comments (2)Maybe you just need some wood panels over the current painted section? or ridged metal/colorbond on each end with wood in the middle? to achieve a more modern exterior....See MoreSarah Johnson
