My boring 1950's bungalow frontage needs a make over please!

Hi, I love the interior of our bungalow but feel that the exterior frontage is just so boring and needs to be brought into the 20th century or even the 21st!
I am traditional but just love contempory too, so a mix of the two would be great if it could work. We are in a small Norfolk coastal village and would like to reflect that connection.
We have recently replaced the old aluminum window frames with UPVC in white - with hindsight maybe should have gone for gray, but is that look going to date too quickly?
Please give me some idea what to do to improve the look!
