paint color for cabinets

what paint to give my cabinets. planning to paint the walls in logjt grey. the floor is marble tiles in grey. what color to give the cabinets. no whites please. im confused between medium dark grey.. taupe or greige..??

Hi Rowen, I can't quite identify the knobs/handles in Claire's images (and there are quite a few others in this thread!), but we may be able to help source what you are looking for. We have a variety of hadle suppliers, but one of our favourite for "cup & knob" in a variety of lovely finishes is Crofts & Assinder - crofts.co.uk - a really great, British company with some lovely designs and finishes. Have a browse of the website and see if any are close to what you seek. If you give me an idea of which is the style you particularly like, happy to try and help. Hi Mrs Lanks, I have specified a lot of kitchens so have a reasonable understanding of the pro's and con's. 1 Don't go for this, the paint "will" chip off. Also, the undercoat applied by your decorator will not grip as well and it will be a thicker coat which can cause your doors to bind. 2 This is my prefered option if you're going for a traditional look. If the factory applies a spray "matt" undercoat they get into all the nooks and crannies and this will provide a stable surface for the hand painting to grip to. I would recommend a Farrow & Ball or Little Green paint as these are based on English heritage colours. Don't allow your decorator to mix to the colour, buy the real thing. You will have to accept that a hand-painted finish is more delicate and it will need re doing over time but it has the advantage that touching up is easy and repainting at a later date can give you a fresh look. Greys are very in at the moment but this will look dated in a few years so having the option to repaint adds longevity to your purchase. 3 Painting in the factory is more durable. The issue is that it can look a bit flat but if you want a more contemporary look, that's a good thing. It looks dead if you want a more traditional look. A spay finish will definitely last longer but if it does chip it does not repair as easily. Hope that helps, Martin www.angel-martin.com

Hi Joanne, Questions to ask yourself are Would you like the room to be : - brighter or darker - cosy or fresh - feel larger or smaller - feel warmer or cooler - feel cheery, neutral or moody Also which way is the room orientated north? What are the other colours that are in the rest of the house? If these colours are all cohesive the spaces will link well and the house will feel larger. Interior Designers can offer a colour consultation - this is brief example of some of the factors that should be considered but the full service is best in person as the designer can get the feel for the space and samples can be viewed in the correct light which makes all the difference. You may find general points raised in this Houzz thread interesting and possibly surprising regarding light from different directions,,, https://www.houzz.com/discussions/5726745/best-white-paint-color-for-cabinets-trim-in-north-facing-rooms The further away you move from the Yellow Hue Family of your cabinetry, the more their ivory colour will be emphasised. So that can help narrow down your search somewhat. These are two colours from the same Hue Family. One more green than the other.
