Help choosing paint colour/s for hallway and landing space
Comments (14)Hi, I'm currently going through the same issue, Trying to find the right combo of paints to paint the hallway. I am looking to panel the part beneath the dado to prevent the ever so frustrating scuffing which occurs at sharp corners and am unsure on the colour combo. I was considering grey and white too but I'm scared that it may make the space feel too cold and dull especially as the only light will be through the door which won't be much. What colour combo's would you recommend to make the space feel luxurious and modern, yet not too clinical and cold?? I'd like the paint to be dulux preferably. what is the quality of Valspar paint like, I've seen it at DIY stores but don't know if it reaches standard of dulux? any reviews?? thanks...See MoreHelp - Hallway, Stairs and Landing Ideas
Comments (29)If you like sage green, use sage green! The hall looks a little dark in places and all the wisdom from designers is that if it is dark, it is dark and no amount of bright colours will change it; they will look less bright in the dark - which equals dark. Go with it and use your favourite green or an even darker shade. Green is about to be very big; be ahead of the curve! It's also really hard to imagine it not being dark but as soon as you have some furniture in there, and some pictures or other things on the walls, it will look interesting and have a bit of a visual lift. Put up a couple of mirrors, too, to reflect the light which will make it seem lighter - you could have one on the right of the stairs so it reflects a little from the window and one on the wall in the main section near the front door. Have a bit of fun with it. It's where everyone arrives - cosy is very welcoming all year round....See MoreLighting on landing dilemma!
Comments (6)Hi Charlie, Recessed down-lights could work, just go for something that's adjustable so you could angle the lights. These Philips ones could come in handy. They have a contemporary and practical design. Philips 3 Pack of EcoHalo Recessed Downlights - White Or you could go for few single spotlights, this will give you more flexibility with directing the light and is a great alternative for bar lights / track lights. They are also quite compact in size. 1 Light Cylinder Ceiling or Wall Spotlight - Black Or you could use down-lighters to light the main wall creating an unusual and welcoming look... Comments (1)With white woodwork, I suggest painting the walls and woodwork in semi-gloss white. White woodwork and walls will make the space visually larger, and semi-gloss paint reflects light and is easy to clean....See MoreE D
