What a lovely room. It just needs a few finishing touches to give it a lift. From your photos, the oak floor looks slightly orange in tone as do your storage units. Orange will only serve to accentuate this and bring little to the scheme. Blue is a contrast to orange, so you may want to consider this. Try laying some colourful clothes on your bed, one at a time to see how it works in the room. To retain a restful feeling, you need a blue that coordinates with the quilt, which looks slightly beige. This photo will give you the idea. Purple is another colour to try, but it has more visual impact. Remember, a little colour will go a long way in your room.

E D: on the curtain fabric I was thinking of something like velvet or similar but as you say cotton may fold better...I am going to a fabric shop tomorrow so will have a good look at what they've got. Sarah: thanks for your suggestion, really like your choice!! But yes something with a shade may be better for our room... Ribena: drape and pool is exactly what I was thinking off thanks!!! And it had passed through my mind to have some cream wooden slated blinds also so just have the curtains for dress. Minnie: liking your suggestions...still very keen on curtains tho. As we Have space it would probably work better as you say to move the bedsides away from the bed a little. Will do some experimenting!! Also love the chair idea!! Hadn't thought of that but definitely nice to have a chair in a guest room :-) Gina: thanks v much also, liking those lights! Definately needs to be something minimal as you say... Thank you Carolina, i have looked at swoon and nothing there for me. I think the size is also causing me a bit of a problem, as most chest of drawers are 80 cm width and most night stands are so small. In my head i am thinking something like this below, but would like a coffee/champagne coloured high gloss.I think it may have to be an ikea hack, as its driving me mad.
