Smallish living room layout confusion
Comments (55)Thanks guys for the tips on the skirting board, carpet, and TV-bench wall. Loving that last pic carolins - would be great to find a space for a huge canvas somewhere in the living room. Re: the living room wall I've been putting some ideas together and I'm thinking maybe wall-mounted shelves above the bench. I'm not keen on IKEA's floating 'Lack' line as the shelves themselves are too chunky at 5cm think, which leaves me looking at options with visible brackets. Also, I've been looking at IKEA's 'Ribba' picture-ledge which looks like a great way of leaning art, photos, and attractive books against the wall. Loads of pictures on my pinterest boards (linked above) but here are a couple more. What do you think? I've never bothered with wall-mounted shelves before because until now I've always rented, so I've no idea how to fit them, or what sort of weight they can bear. I don't want to be worrying about them falling off the wall or caving my house in... Does this extractor exist?
Comments (2)Oops i forgot to mention it's to be a ceiling extractor! This is the closest i have found so far, and my suggestion on this was to perhaps not wire in the lights, or to remove the bulbs, but client wasn't keen on just having frosted panels with no lights in....See MoreTotal refurb and need help with floor plan! Comments (13)Thanks for your help and advice- all really useful and helping me sort the confusion of what I need and want and what is and isn't possible. The skinny space is the kitchen now. It's not ideal as of course is very small and narrow so can't house much. But I like that it's just off the reception room and. It quite in it! The kitchen houses the boiler currently and all pipe work there for oven and sink etc so I know this can be the kitchen but just worried the space is too small. My original plan was to keep the kitchen where it is but rehouse boiler and put washing machine in the toilet. The toilet would go in the bathroom but of course now that's not possible I need to put the boiler and washing machine somewhere and if back in the kitchen then I lose so much space. Could such a small space work? I need to rule out this ideal by speaking to a specially that deals with very small spaces. Any recommendations please?...See MoreIsland extractor - flush to ceiling vs downdraft?
Comments (40)Hi there. Looking for some related advice. We''re also ordering a new kitchen and are trying to decide on an extractor. The only issue is that the ceiling is about 3.25-3.5m high so everyone keeps telling us to have a bulkhead over the island as a ceiling mounted extractor will be inefficient otherwise (we're told a height of more than 1.5m above the hob is the maximum; ours will be about 2.2m...). We really don't want anything hanging from the ceiling over the kitchen island as it is in an open space and will ruin the whole open plan concept. Do you know of any flush ceiling mounted extractors with motors which are strong enough to work at that height? Currently looking at Falmec, Sirius and Frecan but would love to hear your suggestions. Thanks in advance!...See More- 7 years ago
