I do think you can mix them, but not willy-nilly -- there are different shades and finishes of both, and that needs to be considered. Carolina is right, it's how you do it and where; you could have a touch of brass in a bathroom light (such as Tom Dixon's marble lights) with chrome fittings elsewhere in the bathroom -- that little bit of brass then becomes an accent, which works. A silver-gilt mirror frame is something that could also pull both other finishes into a room, tying it all together.

I would have to recommend use a curtain track so you can get good support all the way across the track and know that it is sturdy to hold a heavyish pair of curtains. You will have to go with a metal curtain track of some description as the plastic ones are just not substantial enough and will not work as smoothly as the aluminium ones. Those Philips bulbs aren't bad and it does look like you have allowed for a lot of lighting, so I would suggest waiting until it is painted. A white ceiling really does make a big difference. It has a high CRI and a lot of Lumen per Watt. The bedrooms with 4 x downlights would likely be sufficient with the lower lumen Philips bulbs you have. I forgot to say - a few years ago when we were looking for our bay, I hunted around for shaped curtain poles that didn’t cost a fortune. I eventually found this family based company via a forum. They are called Celtic Dreams Ironworks and are based in north Wales. Their website gives full instruction of what to do to measure up. I went for a simple white pole - and it still looks brilliant. They do a U shape (option C I think) and they also do a different option that might work well - it’s basically two smaller poles that are secured just at one end that is then folded back against the wall. (I’m not explaining particularly well - but they have a couple of photo’s). Over the years, several other friends have used them, and all have been happy.
