Hi, what are the pro's & cons with Kardeen or engineered wood flooring for a 30msq kitchen / diner. Both options would be the herringbone style. Thanks all
One negative of engineered wood is that if you drop something it will make a permanent dent in the wood. We have it in our hall and one of the sitting rooms and over time, things have been dropped and the surface has been marked.
Also, it can scratch as easily as a polished wood floor, so maybe isn't the best for high traffic areas. I'm not too sure of it's resilience against liquid either, where we had a leak under our front door, it resulted in the ends of the planks becoming stained and discoloured.
Of the two I would choose LVT in a kitchen every time. Easy to clean, easy to maintain and if it gets too damaged, it's not overly difficult to get individual planks removed and replaced. Overall it's a lot more forgiving than engineered wood. We very successfully have UFH in our kitchen under the LVT too.
