From what I can gather the previous owner painted the kitchen herself too to save some money. It's a very good quality kitchen that has stood the test of time and 3 children! I think your budget is insufficient for a bespoke wooden kitchen. The good news is that a good kitchen fitter can make a standard kitchen fit an irregular space. Personally I think that with electrics and plumbing you are likely to spend £3500/£4000 on fitting. Your quality worktop is likely to cost £4000. Every appliance you still have to buy will add to the cost. So say you want a new hob and extractor, a dishwasher and washing machine you will spend £1000 (or £2000 for a good name brand). It sounds like you will need a new floor- the inexpensive options will be £1000. There are some great corner pull outs ensuring that no space is wasted £250). This means that you are likely looking less than £5000 for cabinets which will buy you a foil wrapped MDF door that will give you loads of options. Including lots that realistically look like wood and the MDF option has benefits over wood as it will never warp. If your budget is actually more like £10k quartz worktop is out but there are some great laminates you can choose.
