Comments (9)Hi. the pic doesn't expand so i can't see the dimensions but..Do you still have access from the front to the back garden past the garage and master bedroom? If so, how wide is it? If you can I would extend both the boot room and study as the study appears very narrow. Do you have doors into the back garden from the living space? Do you need the corridor between utility and boot room? Can you not incorporate the corridor into the utility and have The utilities in a small U shape? Can the cupboard adjacent to the bathroom be shortened so you have a recessed shower in the top left (where cupboard is) sink facing the door, bath on the right ŵall and loo on the right of the door? I think I would split the cupboard that forms part of the living space, have a door in the living side for Hoover etc and then a separate door on the bedroom side for towels and linen. I'm just thinking it may be more practical?...See MoreDownstairs layout help - incl. kitchen
Comments (18)Option 1 : Doesn't offer a lot of storage, sink to close to end panel of the appliance housing to make it practicle, the option of dining at the breakfast bar looks compromised by the hob, also doesn't appear to be much practical worktop to use for preparation, toaster kettle etc. In my opinion not a good design, creates more problems than it solves Option 2 : Is the better design but I think lose the wall have a straight run with tall units on the garden end and none at the other taking away the bulky end panels. Turn the island 90 degrees and make it longer and deeper....See MoreBathroom layout help
Comments (7)Thanks for giving it some thought Johnathan. You're right I should've given a bit more information. There's currently a cupboard in the room which would've at some point housed a water tank, this is now used as an airing cupboard for all our linen and towels. However the cupboard is far too deep, you can reach the back of it and everything gets in a mess. So I want this all knocked out and a new linen cupboard to be built. My idea was to put this cupboard where one of the doors are now, that way linen can be accessed from the landing. The bathroom planner went with this idea and has actually reduced the length of the room where the toilet is by a foot. As it would be a simple case of retaining a bit of the wall to be knocked down and then putting in a stud wall to create the back of the cupboard. The soil pipe is located where the toilet is on the plan, the bathroom fitter was relaxed about moving the toilet but said it's best to keep it on an exterior wall if possible, if moving it around you also need to take into account boxing in which eats into the room....See MoreFinal Kitchen layout, any suggestions on how to improve it?
Comments (17)Okay, so here are my concerns with the current layout: with no space to the other side of the sink, where will the dirty/clean dishes go. In our house, we put dirty dishes on one side and when unloading the dishwasher, put stuff that still needs to be dried off on the other side. But you may well have another system of loading/unloading. Also, items that can't go into the dishwasher need to be somewhere when dirty and then put somewhere when clean. So, in my experience a sink needs counterspace on two sides. You do need somewhere to put appliances, like the toaster/kettle, coffee machine or maybe a stand mixer? If they are behind doors that aren't pocket doors, you'll be working in a 'confined space', which doesn't seem very practical. I've been through the whole thought process recently and we've decided to do without doors in front of the breakfast counter. Very happy with that decision. I'll post pics so you can see how it looks. We also have kitchen doors that lead to the pantry behind the tall bank of cupboards. We've put the ovens above each other, because one oven we already had and the other one is new and a slightly different design. This left space for two pull out larders, one either side of the ovens. Then we have a tall freezer, tall fridge, double doors to the pantry. We also have a separate coffee corner. Hope this helps....See MoreTani H-S
