How to decide on handle sizes for different kitchen cupboards?
Comments (16)I did originally plan for shaker cupboards above with push to open mechanism, but whilst working with the designer I changed my mind. There were some issues with practicality. I also want them to be wide horizontally rather than vertically, which didn’t look right when I saw the plans. The handleless units look exactly as I want, so I’m going to go for it! However, I do have push to open shaker cupboards on the wall in another area, but it’s not a cooking or eating area. Difficult to explain. They are tall, vertical, traditional looking ones. When looking at the finished plan it looks fine because the push to open shaker style cupboards can be seen not too far from some tall shaker cupboards, whereas the handleless ones aren’t near any other tall or wall units. I’m not sure I’ve explained that very well, but the plans and walkthroughs all look good....See Morekitchen cabinet handles - size advice please
Comments (5)Oh dear - that’s one way - but not the only way ! If you choose a handle that comes in small, medium and large then you can mix them - ask for print outs of elevations to scale - then try the different handle sizes drawn onto tracing paper over the top - or draw them in pencil etc ... you will be living with this for a long time - it’s worth a bit of time now to get it right ! Nb. The handles don’t have to be the same even - as long as they are the same finish - I have knobs, cup handles and two sizes of grab handles on my own kitchen - and it looks great (IMO) ....See MoreCan't make my kitchen fit! Comments (6)Sorry, I should have explained a little bit more. These are old units that I am simply moving. They are in very good condition. I have no problem with abandoning or not using some of the units. @ Jonathan that looks good. My intention is to get a 2400mm island as well. However, need to get these in first! @ Ellie I will do so when I have a chance a little later on! Thank you. The diagram I put up first shows the area where the units will go along with the window at the top. @rinq the larders are very tall. From memory they are approx 2.1m high. They both have openings of 1050mm for appliances. I havnt enquired about additional units but I'd much rather make the best out of what I have....See MoreHarvey Jones standard drawer depth?
Comments (1)Normal depth is 450mm but 400 and 500 are also available. Any brand would fit provided it’s the right size....See More- 7 years ago
