Kitchen dining living layout
Hi having a dilemma... we have a small extension at the back and have taken down a wall to open up the kitchen that was previously a galley kitchen. Should our living area be down by the doors to the garden and dining table opposite the kitchen or dining table by the doors and couch / arm chair opposite the kitchen peninsula..... struggling to see how the living area layout would work.

Comments (1)First, you should decide what you want by the doors..... dining table or sofa? The corner door opening..... putting glass in those corners doesn't allow furniture to go there. I wouldn't have a sofa against the doors as to me it defeats the purpose. I'd shorten the expanse of glass. Thanks for the advise that’s what I was leaning towards also this is the drawing our kitchen supplier did for us. The fireplace has been ripped out but the chimney breast remains.

7 years agoI think for me, i'd do a little bit more structural work, as you've come so far, and remove the Chimney Breast. It's causing layout problems.
You can't fit either a sofa or dining table in that space with the Chimney breast in situ. It's just too cramped and there's not enough walk room.
With the Chimney breast out of the way, there's just enough room for a dining table opposite the kitchen as long as you get one as narrow as possible, and the space up by the doors will allow a sofa up to 2240mm long. You can't have a coffee table in there, but there's space for the T.V on the wall opposite.
