Small living area (living dining kitchen)
Comments (8)Hello Moneera, A very relaxing space you have and I hope you really enjoy living in your new place.. What about a really large mirror that you could just lean against that wall in the dining area.. Something with a frame that's painted the same colour as the wall would really give an interesting focus along with light and the illusion of a bigger room.. Even really big rooms look good with huge mirrors.. Ebay has a good online mirror shop that sells mirrors of all designs up to 8ft.. It would add a dramatic backdrop to the dining area and work beautifully throughout the day. For the other side, living room side, you could create a really interesting shelving artwork with that corner next to the window.. If you were to get some box type shelves and paint them the colour of the walls and possibly some in an accent colour... you could fix them to the wall and have nooks and interesting levels to place nice pieces on and some perhaps that swivel on hidden hinges, so they can pivot and close.. If you want to hide some things... You create a textured piece of wall art that also has a function... You could also carry this theme into the room behind the sofa just in part.. There is a strong geometric theme with your sofa and cubes and thinking of how to apply this aesthetic to other areas of the room... So using the box idea to create a screen and shelving system, that both adds to creating a separate room divider/bookcase/art instillation. It's an artistic way to create bespoke shelving which can be accessed from both sides.. It still needs to be quite open in order to see through to the both sides... You could have boxes with backs which then become open as they continue upwards to become a more transparent look.. I have tried to find you some images to show you what I mean but you could use all 3 as a point of inspiration to create a bespoke look if you liked the idea...... A sheepskin for the back of the sofa and some lovely cushions would be really fantastic too.. : ))...See MoreNeed help for my small living/dining room with awkward layout
Comments (10)Hi. It's hard to tell if this will work as I can't tell the door width but what if you were to build a ŵall to wall bookcase on the desk ŵall incorporating both the tv and radiator? Ignore the design of this one, was just showing a pic of one against a window, You may need to widen the pillar by the dining room entrance slightly. Perhaps ammonite by F&B for the ŵalls with a floor that picks up one of the tones in the table. I'd also paint the coving in the ammonite and a darker shade of grey for the bookcase. Have a 6ft sofa (allowing for side table and lamp) opposite the bookcase (not against the ŵall) with a chair angled in front of the bookcase and perhaps go for an upholstered stool on legs as per your inspiration pic. You could use Romans on the windows, maybe in a vertical stripe and then use geo patterns for the cushions. Re lights I'd add ŵall lights to the bookcase and a flush for the living room, preferably just 7 inches high. You can afford to hang something lower over the dining table. Are you keeping the tall cabinet? I think your current table will look lovely with some upholstered chairs...See MoreLayout for small-ish open plan lounge / dining room - blank canvas
Comments (6)I'd go for nothing in the bay except for maybe a low chest, the windows are very long and to close to the floor to stand anything in front of them, without obscuring them. Therefore, if you place a sofa on the long 3 m wall you can then put the t.v / hi/fi system on the shorter, hallway wall opposite, creating a focal point. Place the dining room table and chairs at the other end of the room nearer the kitchen. This leaves you plenty of space to move about. I'd have maybe side tables or a side table near to both ends or at least one end of the sofa to have a lamp for reading etc You could also opt for a standard lamp!...See Morehelp with living room/dining room layout and furniture
Comments (3)Hi there, Looking at your layout and depending on how many people will be seated I suggest looking into corner shaped sofa along the long wall closer to the window so that you can set up a TV on the opposite wall and get the most out of your space. However it does mean you may lose a little bit of the light from the doors. Alternatively you could have a 2 seater sofa and an armchair where your cupboards are to hide it a bit and still give you plenty of seating. For your dining table I suggest to keep this closer to the kitchen. From the floor plan I don't think you will be able to have a very large table so if you do plan to entertain I suggest to buy an extending dining table. I am not sure how far the kitchen comes, if it is beyond the door on the opposite wall? Then I would suggest to going for a two seater sofa instead. Hope this helps, thanks Rukmini...See Morenatashadx6
