wow stellahome, what a grand house and entrance! I'm intrigued! Do you have many original features left in the house? servant bells maybe? :) Post some pictures for us! I am very familiar with lassco, in fact I currently live 5 mins away from there, and pop in often, they have many wonderful items which really enhance an old house. Took a couple of more pictures today of the dresser, as even though it looks very worn, look at the dovetail joint details! They certainly don't make them like this anymore (unless you pay a hefty price for it!)

Hello Ave Bird, we really like the pastel grey of your walls and how they fit with the sofa and pillos, it looks really comfy! Though we feel your room needs some lighter colours to liven it up and add to the cosiness a touch of brightness. We think light blue curtains would wonderfully lighten up the whole room. They blend beautifully with the color palette you already have and will give a fresh aura to your room. We would personally opt for ice or slate blue though sky, aqua or pastel blue could be amazing options too! Hi. I recognised the floor plan so looked at your previous posts. You mention converting the garage to a spare room so it might make sense to have room 2 as the shower room but where are the utilities as they can be costly to move? I can also see another post mentioning an extension of 6x4, is that correct? It would help if you could add measurements of all rooms (you can’t read anything on the one posted) and an upstairs plan. I think finally more details are needed. How many are in your family, are you keen cooks? If you have children, what age etc. Do they need a study area? What music do you play? Do you entertain, if so how many etc. Personally I’d put the kitchen and dining out the back, with utility cupboards in room 1 keeping a door to the kitchen so you can see from the front door to the garden. Kitchen on left wall with a peninsula in front with a floor to ceiling window in between the units and dining on the rhs. Having said that I’m useless at planning so I’d engage OnePlan to look at the entire floor space, a little money spent now could avoid costly mistakes and have a home that works for you!

The more 'colourful' the colours are, the more they start to jump about and interact, What this means is that the more blue your walls look, the more orange your sofa will look. The bluer your walls, the more orange your floor will look etc. Warm and cool colours - it's all relative. A hot orange will look cooler when white is added. A blue will look warmer if it is dark etc. You can see from the image below that the contrast in hue between the hague blue and the sofa and floor is quite stimulating, I wouldn't think this room would be improved with a patterned wallpaper. I agree with Daisy that a colour from the paper would make it coherent.
