Hi! Would it be worth asking an electrician to give you a price for moving the light to where you want it? Then you're not restricted with your choice of light, the fitting doesn't look that big so hopefully not a big job to patch up the hole that's left. Regarding your table I would get a throw and fold it to the size and shape you want for the table, see what it looks like on the floor. I'm hopeless at judging how something will fit in my room so I use cardboard boxes, blankets etc to give me an idea.

I did think about moving the point but it's a two storey house with a concrete slab and these were put in during construction and I think it's quite hard to make another connection?

If it's only a dining table that's going there then yes, it will look strange. However if you plan to put a unit/console table on the left wall then perhaps the light might be directly above your table. I think the light should be directly above centre of table, which is not usually centre of a room

Hi, I agree with Ellie, Centre the table under the light and put other things like plants, console etc in the area you have marked as your dining space.

From your pic it looks like the light is closer to the windows? If so, then putting console/shelving/plants on the white wall will make the light central to the remaining floor area?

sorry think the wide angle photo distorted it. it's centered between the white walls but it's further away from the ugly wall paper meaning a table will come out of the dining area if centered. I think it should be fine to come out as there's enough space.
