What colour should I paint this fence ?
Please can you help ? i Have Forrest green paint and now wondering if it will make the garden look dark And smaller or bright and modern?
I really need to make the fence modern
I’m going to paint the stone panels white
This garden has so much potential I have no idea how to make it look good - I have 2 little boys - toddlers and need a garden to be relaxing and a play area for kids

Comments (15)Hello Nicola E, How you treat the paint work entirely depends on what you want to stand out.. The fireplace or the wardrobes.. This too depends on what else is happening in the room... If just a bed then it's entirely possible to create a feature of said wardrobes by painting them a bolder colour or the chimney breast a darker colour.. Look at the room and consider what you'd like to have as a focal point and how big the room is.. Shades of cream and off whites are far nicer than white.. So if you decide to include a white scheme, definitely look at shades of off white and creams.. Little Greene has a lovely range of chalky colours.. such as Whitening, White Lead, Stock etc.. These can be chosen for wood and walls.... They give a warm, chalky and sophisticated look which can blend beautifully with colours such as Celestial blue or James just to talk of blue and these are warm not cold blues .. I also like Juniper Ash which is a slightly mauve colour but look for warm versions of a colour you like.. So if the fireplace is to stand out and the wardrobes are a pale creamy colour the accent and focus is the fireplace which will benefit if the room is smaller than you'd like.. If you have a large bed then this might be the best way to consider it. If the room is large and you want something to create a statement then consider the fireplace and wardrobes.. A shade or two darker for wardrobes than chimney breast will create a frame surrounding both the fireplace and for the bed if this is facing on the opposite wall.. Blend the bedding and cushions, should you choose them into the scheme to create a cohesive and stylish finish. Lastly if you want a pale room with painted wardrobes these will form a statement and frame if you have less in the room... : )) Blended.... Contrast... Comments (8)I think your view can take any paint colour 😍 There were articles on Houzz about black fencing, but I never saw a black one in real life. As I recall the article, the idea was that the black would disappear behind greenery. Meanwhile, in my garden I painted the fence with clay (or grey stone?) colour, and it looks good. Browny purple, as Colourhappy suggested, would look fabulous. I remember Luciana’s garden project, and browny purple in her garden looked beautiful. The only other thing to be conscious about would be to paint the fence first, then planting,not the other way round. You wouldn’t want to walk over the newly planter precious new plants while painting the fence. Also paint splatter might ruin or spoil the plants....See Morewhat colour should I paint my hall?
Comments (6)Here’s some mid century hallways I found with mostly white walls. Doors all seem to be natural wood in a teak colour which was the thing back in the 70s. Of course you don’t have to be a slave to mid century style but it does look rather stylish. In the last pic they’ve painted the door a dark blue and it does look rather good. Comments (3)I wouldn’t go light, the cement shows how they will look and they really bring the garden in? If you’re adding borders along the fence I might continue your blue black. Lovely big garden to work with! I'm no professional except trying to remodel my own garden and have two boys myself so know where you're at!
Found a couple of pics with dark green fence, I think its a nice colour although maybe not as modern as dark grey. I've just painted my side fence dark grey and its really made the flowers (love white flowers) pop as would any dark colour.

Mix it Up · More InfoLike the blackboard idea too, here, a can of blackboard paint is fairly inexpensive and you could attach a piece of painted ply to the fence to have the option of removing later/ when the boys grow up a bit.
Another idea is add decking to your garden, my boys would have loved this sandpit a few years ago!

It all depends how much money you have to work with (as do most things in this life).. I have plenty of great ideas but not necessarily the budget to match!!
