You need to ensure that the colour/design you choose is correct. They are too expensive to swap around. I have Nuance by Bushboard. Lots of colour choices in 3 different price ranges and there's absolutely no way I would revert back to mucky tiles/grouting and all the maintenance they require. Google Nuance and ensure you have BB Complete for the joints and seals. I personally don't like niches cut out as I've found they hold the water. I have a stainless steel holder for my shampoo etc. It's big enough to hold 5-6 bottles of various stuff.

It's easier if you are fitting the shower tray on ground floor to minimise obstructions such as joists to allow pipe work We had a flush tray installed on a concrete floor, against our plumbers recommendation who preferred a shower on a riser as it's easier in terms of plumbing and in terms of fixing should anything go wrong. Thankfully, the plumber was very understanding and understood the whole concept of aesthetics (in some cases) over practicality and conducted the world for us. The plumber had to cut out chases in the floor to install the pipes /waste / etc. It was more costly but it gave us what we wanted. Hi Annie, The new layout your husband is suggesting could be a possibility however it all depends on where the toilet waste pipe is located as this would affect where the toilet can be placed. The waste pipe might be visible externally or this could be in an adjoining room below floor level. From your pictures, there is no soil stack in the bathroom area which indicates your waste would flow by one of the two previous options. This is critical to any consideration of layout changes. Should this be possible then we think a good option to maximise space would a wet room with the shower area situated along the back wall with a glass screen panel. These panels are perfect to save space and also provide a sleek and modern look. To allow enough space for a toilet and sink we believe the best option would be to bring the recessed wall forward at half height which removes any restrictions and creates more space to work with. To further maximise space, a wall to back or wall hung WC would work and look better. The WC could be placed next to the shower and then a sink or vanity unit near the door. The recessed area which we would bring forward could still be used for recessed shelving above the sink. Your current design makes the entrance area feel very narrow therefore, changing the layout as suggested would make this room feel bigger.

You should used a preformed tray under your tiles which has a slope built in towards the drain. This will help the water to flow back towards the drain. Water is always going to splash outside the opening and you can put down a bath mat to step out onto which will catch the excess. Ultimately it depends how much the water annoys you. You could start off without a screen and then add one later if it proves to be a problem.
