To answer your question directly - I'd suggest you swap your dishwasher position to the opposite end of that sink run - as DW in a corner prevents you from using the cabinets that are next around the corner or the wall units into corner for plate /glasses storage unless you have arms like MrTickle ! This room, as you've drawn it, looks like you could have L shape as you have done - or parallel galley kitchen which looks like it may offer more storage and work top - or even a U shape with tall storage and perhaps the fridge freezer at the top, a bit like Karen suggested ?! There's so much that could be done - you home is your biggest investment - and your kitchen is often the busiest space ! Consulting a proper professional to help you get the room right for you - is a wise choice - just because you have scissors in your kitchen drawer it doesn't mean you can cut your own hair and it will be awesome ! Comments (19)Although I think that a hall is less efficient I still think that it is important for privacy. I also think it will help resale. I would keep the bedroom the same size as it is and make the shower room bigger by extending into the living room. This will make this side of the reception room smaller and potentially make the chimney breast look unbalanced so I would move the kitchen to this side of the room. I think that a kitchen and bathroom will eat up most of your budget and you will still have to buy some furniture, flooring, blinds and lights so don't get carried away with taking down all of the walls....See Morefinal kitchen cupboard layout etc
Comments (105)Shan M - I never did do the brick slips in the end! I managed to salvage a wall to the side of the kitchen so ended up just painting the back kitchen wall in the same colour as the units (well itt's a different tone due to the paint finish) and it's quite dramatic and I love it. If I had done brick slips, they would have gone on afterwards and been fitted around the units to save money. retrospectively, the brick slips cost the same as a full brick and although the original builder said it would be cheaper to tile with slips rather than to build a brick wall, the actual bricklayer (after he finished the job) disagreed! He said he could have done block work up the units and bricked all the exposed areas. Probably would have cost the same as tilers are not cheap! Comments (26)The room is large so you should have room for a chair plus it's impossible to socialise all sat in a straight line! I think I'd go for something antique for the sideboard. I was looking at mid century ones and most are pretty large. I came across this cocktail cabinet which I think is really nice and a steal? I'd put a light chair in front of the cabinet (for easy access) angled towards the sofa , an Acapulco chair would work and you can pick them up really cheaply, this one is from superstudio. I'd probably use an ivory sheepskin on it though which is beyond my poor photoshopping skills, dunelm do one. I'd probably go for a shade of blue for the chairs, this one is cult furniture but unsure of your budget so have included another link. Eames chairs would also work. I'd go for a beni ourain rug, I've used any old one to photoshop in but there are loads around. if you wanted to splurge there are genuine ones on eBay etc (they should be an investment plus they would with a lot of styles for the future) or try places like Benuta or Very for a replica. i forgot to ask if the curtains were staying?
