Garden office - loo or no loo?

We are thinking about converting a brick outbuilding to a garden office/kids den. It currently has a little loo, access is from the outside. Would it be worth keeping this or is it eating into too much space?

Comments (8)Hi Missy, Have you thought about having a shower fitted instead of a bath in the en-suite? Showers can be a lot more space-saving and economical done right. Plus, the technology's come a long way, giving you just as luxurious an experience as you'd have in the bath with options like rain jets, cascade (waterfall-like), lights, aromatherapy and speakers to play music through. What kind of style are you going for in the en-suite? The above are all quite contemporary but we have some traditional bell-shaped rain showers as well. Comments (6)I think there's also something to consider. The drains.............having done a couple of these in my time............ The soil pipe runs from the bathroom down between the kitchen and dining room. If you enclose the whole space and go right to your boundary you will probably end up with the soil pipe indoors. I would suggest that you do not go the whole way across, and for two reasons. One the soil pipe could be moved a little. Two keeping daylight in the Dining Room is better as it may end up quite dark in there if you enclose it. I also wouldn't take away the downstairs loo. I don't think it's necessary, and I think the house will be of better value with it. So, I would do this, as it means you have room to re-route the soil pipe keeping it outside and having light in the Dining Room. The other thing you gain by doing this, is symmetry in the dining room. You are echoing the shape on the left ( the toilet ), by bringing the wall in on the right. Ah,thank you 😊 I must admit I’m avoiding the garden atm, it’s a slug fest, my husband has to frisk the dog every time she comes in as she’s brought in a couple on her coat 🤢 Ah ok, I’m not sure of the shortest projection, I know 650 is easy to get, but if you went for a 450 deep sink by whatever wide that should be do’able. Another option is the loo in the corner and have them both on the same wall, should gain 130mm standing room (?]. Can the mop not stay in the hall or do you want that storage for coats etc? (or can you buy folding mops??) 😂 it will be nice to have something pretty at the end of the hall I agree although it is a very nice vanity! hmmm, you’ve actually caught me mid decor 😂 The stairs are being painted next week and adding a runner (or saving for), new lights on order, looking for new bench etc as will move that one elsewhere...See More

So we think we’ll keep the loo, thanks all. If we move the front door to the other side it’ll make the space more usable, I’ve been playing around with layouts and this looks the best.
