Brickslip Question

Hi, any assistance welcome!

We're just having a new extension and we would like to have brickslips on a large wall. We plan to have ceiling to floor brickslips ( no skirting ), the question is do we install the flooring before or after the brickslips?

Flooring first. The brick slips need something to sit on. If in future years you decide to remove the brick slips by sitting them on the floor you won’t have a gap.

I guess companies and products can vary business to business, We are aware from customers we speak to who have received samples from companies that not all people who advertise having genuine brick slips actually do there strange mixes of plastic, ceramic replicas etc. However The Brickslip Brothers do sell and even install genuine authentic products and there are methods in treatments available to helps blend the style, there so many unique advantages to this product, I am sorry for the experience you had with the company Titiankim, if its something you ever consider looking at again get in touch, all the best The Brick Slip Brothers.

Shan M - I never did do the brick slips in the end! I managed to salvage a wall to the side of the kitchen so ended up just painting the back kitchen wall in the same colour as the units (well itt's a different tone due to the paint finish) and it's quite dramatic and I love it. If I had done brick slips, they would have gone on afterwards and been fitted around the units to save money. retrospectively, the brick slips cost the same as a full brick and although the original builder said it would be cheaper to tile with slips rather than to build a brick wall, the actual bricklayer (after he finished the job) disagreed! He said he could have done block work up the units and bricked all the exposed areas. Probably would have cost the same as tilers are not cheap! Doh.

These were put in our house 14 years ago - started marking about 6-7 yrs ago and now just before I take them out I can mark with my finger nail. Think the quality of the black sockets are better now. Love the half wall ... and the industrial tiles that have been suggested. It’s going to look great!

Unless, of course, you want to change the floor later on, in which case it might be a nightmare trying to pull it out from under the brick slips without pulling them off or damaging them.

I wouldn't sit the brick slips directly on the floor. They are no different to wall tiles. Most brick slip systems attach directly to the wall. I would leave a very slight gap.
