We need much more information. How big is it? Where will it be located? Is there power near it so you can put a lamp on it? What's your style? Pictures would help a lot too.

I too thought shutters would block out too much light, but the look when fitted is so lovely, and with wider size slats, the more light they let in. The pics below have small slats but its the same style of bay with shutters. Also don't have the push rods on the front if you want a cleaner look. Having the slats split so top/bottom open separately like pic below is also good if you want privacy without shutting out light from the top. High gloss shutters also reflect light into the room and shutters seem to go with any look, period or contemporary.

Our suppliers have come back to us with the following comments"Firstly sorry for the delay in replying to your email, we have recently returned from our 2 week Summer Shutdown…. With reference to your email regarding the WN206 Nest of Tables, unfortunately this will happen because the furniture is manufactured from Oak wood and when the timber oxidises with the natural light the furniture will mellow and become darker, so if this area has not been exposed it will remain the original colour from purchase. We do not stain our furniture only apply a 5% durable dull laquer sheen. We could offer to sand back the table top and repolish, but you would need to collect the item from the customer and deliver to our factory in Newton le Willows, however this would be chargeable to yourselves.
