Anyone?!

Don't go for a deep pile - I did for 1 room, and it flattened after a very short time, I was so annoyed. We have have a medium pile throughout other 3 bedrooms and landing, you can see all hoover marks and where people walk- so always looks like you haven't hoovered but they are nice to walk on!! We also have thin underlay cos of ufh, but still soft.

Can you get some samples and try walking on them?

I have Saxony carpets in bedrooms which are plush and soft underfoot - same colour but but one is nylon and other polypropylene. Nylon is superior and doesn’t flatten underfoot like the polypropylene, though the flattening doesn’t bother me - it still looks plush. I went for wool on stairs and landing so no flattening and still soft underfoot. It really depends on the quality of the carpet...

We had some mid range polypropylene twist carpet, looked and felt great at first but after 2 years it had flattened badly in areas and looked rubbish. Ripped it out and have replaced it with a 80/10/10 wool mix (Cormar home counties). Still feels soft underfoot but shouldn't flatten as much and look good for years to come
