Thank you so much Tani, Carolina and So-Real for taking the trouble to reply and for such good ideas and photos as well! I am torn between which way to go! If I box up to the window sill should I go up to the left hand corner of the room next to the current basin but presumably this will affect the basin width-wise if I do put it there? The current one is 60cm wide so I could get away with the protrusion as the boxing is already there but would it look ok coming out along there? Or as you say I could put the toilet where the sink is and add a basin on a countertop under teh window. The window sill is 86cm high and I cannot seem to get the dimensions for one of the countertop ones on Google which is frurstrating but will keep trying! In my other bathroom the sink height is 82cm so that could possibly work.... What do you think? Thanks again

Just thought I would update my post as the en suite is *almost finished. Only take 6 months (rolls eyes) and still a bit of cladding above the WC to finish and on the sink unit (same walnut cladding on the front) and of course I have to have a shower screen designed as it won’t take a standard shower door. Such fun. Will take some other angle pics over the weekend once it’s all tidied up and cleaned. Just struggling now with storage!! Only got a shallow space under the sink (25cm deep- 26cm at most) to put some drawers but I can’t find any. Got space on the wc side for a little bench seat with storage under so trying to work out the best colour/style that’s not too twee.

Just from a repair perspective, yes things do go wrong and yes the flush plate comes off for 'maintenance', however, if you get a problem such as having to replace the whole cistern box or leaks etc from such, then no you can't just stick your hand in the access hole. Thus, if you can instead of tiling over the top of the false wall, put a wooden top, or tiled removable top / stone top..............anything that can be lifted off, it will make life a lot easier for your poor repair man.

You made me laugh out loud there rinq! Yeah...that one's been ruled out already :-) Here's a pic as it is at the mo: We did half an update around 10 years ago - new bath/screen/sink/taps/cupboard doors/floor - but our budget didn't stretch to retiling. The main drivers today are: to get a toilet in here new tiles (wall & floor and U/F heating) TBH, I want it to look more modern and I want a toilet. If we have to do without the separate shower, so be it.
