We have planning permission for a ground floor kitchen extension. Normally everyone seems to go for underfloor heating, but I wondered if it is actually worth the cost. Our room will be south facing so fairly warm, and we currently don’t put our heating on much as due to shift work and after school activities we aren’t in the house very much and there is no fixed schedule as to when we are in- at the moment we put the heating on when it’s needed and the house warms up quickly, I’m worried that if the underfloor takes a while to warm up we will end up either leaving it on and heating an empty house or spending ages waiting for it to get to an acceptable temperature- obviously I want to use as little energy as possible with the current prices! Does anybody have any advice on this?
