I love your kitchen layout. I'm currently have an extension built for a new open plan kitchen/family room so have found your posts most useful. I too will be having my hob on the island and I think it looks best in the centre. My sink will also be directly behind the hob, but there's plenty of room so I think it will work well. As long as your current finish/paintwork is well stuck to the kitchen materials a gentle sand down will give it enough key to take on new paint. 2 coats of primer and 2 coats of top coat will be ideal. www.willowtreeinteriors.com sell Mylands paint which we have one of the most durable paints for kitchens and furniture. apply with a brush and sponge roller for best results. Hi I was looking some help and guidance as my head is melted with all the decisions that come with building a house. I'm trying to create a timesless modern kitchen and I've decided to go ammonite cabinets and on my island I have a warm white grey quartz with a wooden breakfast bar. I dont know what colour to put on my walls. I have tried strong white farrow and ball which I like, cornforth white and purbeck stone which I think might be too dark. I have attached a few photos. The last one is the computer generated image. I have light colour tile on my floors too. I have tried railings on the wall that is featuring the ovens. (the ovens will also be cased in the same wood as on the island) but it seems too black. any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Tara x

Thank you both for responding. I really appreciate it Sonia Im not sure abut a very pale colour especially on the island which is really dark grey. I think it would be high maintenqnce to keep looking clean and a bit too much of a contrast? If you have found any similar I would love to see. I have looked but nothing that grabs me Marylee I put the worktop sample upside down sorry! I know what you mean re more wood though I have seen lots of examples where people have done it successfully. I guess it would have to match exactly. It's giving me such a headache!!
