dining table please help!!

I want to buy new table and chairs for my kitchen. I am sooo confused and can’t make up my mind. Kitchen is very light grey and concrete gray, black appliances, while callacata worktops. White walls, light grey blinds, oak tile floors. Do I go with a black table and white chairs? Or black chairs and oak table? I love the eames DSW chairs… PLEASE HELP!!!!

I would step away from the black and choose a wooden table (think light wood like birch) with white chairs, or a mixture of pastels. My sister has Eames style chairs which have a padded sear so pretty comfortable. Rather like this

I think something lighter would work better, an oak table with grey or dark chairs for a pop? And maybe a nice rug under it?

Totally agree with S Z. A good flat weave rug to protect your floor but also so you don’t have wood directly on wood. The table is likely to be a different shade from the floor and you’ll need something to break it up.

I think an oak table and black chairs will look great..the Eames DSW chairs are timeless and comfortable but can look a bit office like.

Also look at options from Kartell and Hay if you want something stylish but a bit cheaper.

Beautiful table ! Job for a pro if you want it good as new ... Personally I'd be worried that there might be unfixable damage -hence it was painted ? But if you know the history - it could be worth the investment of getting it done properly!

Hi all, thought I would give an update on the room. I decided to paint in neutral and take some time to allow the extension to complete before attempting this room. We freshened it up with some white paint and I’m now ready to tackle it!! I have sold and cleared much of my clutter after reading the magic art of tidying. The book should really come with a warning. I have literally ransacked our home! We have ordered a new sofa. We went with the French connection zinc. A 3 seater in light grey with dark cushion combo with a grey leather cuddler. We have a decorator pencilled in for 3 weeks time. I’m loving the teal blue shades for an accent wall to separate the living area from the play end. I like teal tension by Dulux and F&b stiffney blue or Hague. I’ll post some samples tomorrow. I’m not sure which one or two walls to paint. Either just the fireplace wall or the long wall facing window (or both). Undecided on colour for other walls too either little greene French grey in pale or elephants breath. I think I would like the darker wall to be one that the tv sits against. Where would you put tv? I would like to change the stand for a lower more minimalistic one. Love all of the mid century styles. The other side of the room will be for the girls as our dining area has moved to the extension room. Any idea much appreciated. Here is a current pic. The toys and armchair will go to other end of room.

Hi, I like that Hancock table. And I also like the Eames style dining chairs. I think the wood and the white will warm up the room and at the same time keep that minimalistic, light atmosphere you're looking for. But the wood of the chair legs won't match the table. If you're worried about that, you could look for chairs like the ones below. The blue/grey one is from John Lewis (also comes in white) and the white one is from Barker & Stonehouse. A ladder bookcase won't give you a lot of storage for toys for example. Only useful for some books and pretty things, but you might end up with a less minimalistic look than you want? I've seen your other dilemma too. Could you move the sofa to the solid wall and place a cabinet that gives you (part) closed storage next to it? You could then put a dining table with its short side on the left window wall perhaps? If the room is big enough.

Another vote for a lighter wood. Your kitchen is smart but maybe whole room needs a lift with lighter tones. Good luck with your decision making.

I would recommend an oak table with maybe black wishbone chairs with rattan seating. Extremely comfy. Black table would be too harsh for your scheme.
