If you want to stack then the windows will be a hazzard. If you want worktop space then stacking won’t give you this. l have mine stacked and would highly recommend it. Far more convenient,

Ideally plumbing needs to be kept together.

If you need storage for taller items such as vacuum cleaners and brooms then consider a larder unit.

Looking at the dimensions, this shouldn't be insurmountable, if I'm interpreting your sketch correctly. To help find possible solutions, could you answer a few questions:

1. If you look at the CAD outline I've mocked up below, can you confirm if the room wall dimensions are broadly correct?
2. Looking at the door position, have I put it in the correct wall? It was a bit ambiguous, and could be the one to the side!
3. Looking at the boiler - can you give width (side to side), depth (front to back) and height as well as how far in from the LHS it is?
4. Window positions/sizes - are they roughly right? how high off the floor do they start? This is probably less critical.
5. IMPORTANT: If you currently have a sink, where is it or, more importantly, where is the waste pipe? Does it go into the floor or out a wall?

Position of the waste is likely to be the main limiting factor for what options might work for you. If you can also indicate whether stacked appliances is your preference (freestanding, not integrated, I presume?) or just side by side. Also give an indication of what sort of storage you want - simple base/wall cupboards or something "fancier" for laundry baskets etc.

Finally, if there are any other features - radiators etc - that may limit position of things, that would help too!

Feel free to print the plan and annotate, then take a picture & upload it! Any photos of the space would also help.

I may have some time over the weekend/early next week to mock something up for you.

Put appliances and sink down the left wall, facing the windows?? It seems like a really decent sized space so not sure what the issue really is. Just leave the boiler where it is, ideally box it in to make it prettier. Could probably do an L-shape of units along the left and the bottom wall to incorporate the boiler into the cabinetry, but I personally feel like corner units are a waste of space so depends on if you need storage space or worktop space.

The issue was whether the sink and washer needed to be next to the water pipes/boiler or could be moved further away.

There is no particular need for the sink or washer to be close to the water pipes or boiler and while it is useful for the sink & washer to be close-ish to one another, there is no particular "burning" requirement for that.

The most critical factor is actually the waste - the drainage away from both sink & washer. Ideally you want both to be fairly close to wherever the waste exits the room, and the "fall" should be sufficient with, ideally, as few bends in the waste pipe as possible.

Whereabouts is the drain? If you give some indication, as well as what all storage you're looking to incorporate, I'm more than happy to knock up a quick outline design for you. At my desk in the showroom on a quiet lunchtime, so it would be no trouble!

Here’s the plan with accurate measurements (tape instead of my phone) and a pic of the boiler area - I assume this must be the waste pipe area because the boiler and washing machine both connect in this area?
It’s an old cottage so that might explain any surprising measurements.
No heating/radiators or other fixtures to get in the way.
Door actually opens outwards - sorry, silly mistake.

Storage wise, I think some hanging space for washing (is thought a rail above the sink/drainer?), cupboards and a couple of shelves would be great. Intending to have folding laundry baskets so shelves don’t have to fit that.
Washer and drier are freestanding and I’ve no preference about their position although I read that only certain ones can be stacked?
(Perfect design would leave some space for dog bed but that’s not essential.)

Somewhere, you should be able to see where the waste pipe from the washer joins a drain - possibly under an existing sink.

Yes, your info is broadly correct that only certain appliances are designed to be stacked. However, if you look at the images I uploaded, it is possible to get around this by building a bespoke unit that is strong enough to take the weight & vibration - you can see the thick 40mm worktop that was used. Is stacked your preference or not? I am still unclear!

If you have no preference, then both floorstanding is normally the most cost effective solution. Stacking in a bespoke unit sees costs build up…

Regarding drying - yes, one image shows a double fold out dryer, which is a tidy solution that can be folded out of the way when not in use.

Do you wish any tall storage units (for ironing boards etc)?

The space is larger than you realise, so many configurations are possible.

There’s no sink at the moment but the waste pipe seems to be directly under the boiler against the bottom wall on the plan. That’s connected to the washing machine you can just see in the photo.

No preference with stacking but cost is an issue so floor standing might be a better option for us.
I’d like at least 1 tall cupboard if possible but no preferences beyond 1 - others can be tall or short.

Here's a couple of initial options without tall cupboard:

Option 1: Maximises storage, large sink & spray/head tap (ideal for dog washing!); wall shelves (though could be full cupboards) and a fold out dryer

Option 2: Reduces storage, but there is a "corner" where the dog bed could go, slightly out the way

Option 3:

Fuller workspace, but an entire, partially enclosed area for a dog bed

No easy way to add a tall cupboard with these variants, due to large sink. Can you let me know what sort of dog you have & size?

I think we could work with this as the ironing board and brooms etc are currently attached to the wall by the door so no reason that couldn’t continue.
Dogs are mini schnauzers (who like to cuddle) so the space in option 3 would be good.

Below is an option incorporating stacked appliances. If I'm honest, the options with stackjed plus a tall unit are rather more limited, thanks to the position of the boiler. As it is, this version would need a little tweaking due to boiler pipes, hiding wastes etc, and overall would both be more expensive and have more "fiddly bits" to deal with. It also has far less worktop space, so overall, I'd go with one of the first three options (or some variant of it).

I'm afraid I don't have a miniature schnauzer model, so a spaniel will have to do!
