I had the same dilemma, so opted for cedar shingles, capped with aluminium profile in grey to match the glazing. There is also a dormer on the other side of the house, with cedar shingle cladding. These have now been treated with Osmo UV oil to preserve the colour, as they'd already started to fade after a month or two.

Hi I am struggling deciding on cladding colour and window style/colour for a new dormer. We have a bungalow with rear dormer but are adding front dormer. Walls will be rendered white and have plantation shutters. We are not sure whether to have grey windows or white but we will also use cedral cladding on the cheeks of the dormers so have a big range of colours to choose from. I'd like to use an app to take a photo of the house and play with colours is there a good one to use? Thanks

I'm going to replace horrible 80s stone cladding on my 1960s house. I'm going to go with UPVC to emulate the white wooden panels that would have been there originally, but can anyone advise on what the best type of insulation is to have underneath? I do need insulation: There is only a single skin of concrete blocks underneath the cladding andone of the walls is north facing. A builder has quoted for 50mm of solid insulation, a cladding specialist (the cheapest) quoted for a thermal foil blanket underneath. I want to get this right, but I'm struggling to find meaningful advice online.. Many thanks

hi. i am looking for recommendations for black cladding to go on a garage. there seems to be a million different products - from wood to composite but i am looking for real life recommendations from people who have it. i would prefer something low maintenance and would like a solid black colour - oh and also it needs to be pretty inexpensive too ! :) thanks in advance xx
