kitchen layout advice

Hi everyone
We live in Switzerland and are taking over my parents house. We will be renovating it quite a bit as it’s fairly old. We also want to change the layout of the ground floor somewhat. Attached you find a floor plan from the architect. We’re fairly happy with it, with one exception: we’re not really keen on having such a huge kitchen island. We’re struggling to come up with different solutions as there is a floor length window towards the planned nook. We also want the kitchen to be accessible from the hallway so there is a sliding door on the opposite side too. Do you guys have any bright ideas for a practical and clean kitchen layout without such a massive island? The nook doesn’t have to be - it’s just an idea.
Thanks a lot in advance!
