Tiny en-suite ideas?
Hi all
I have a small ensuite in need of renovating.
We have a cupboard space on the landing which use to house the old tank, so i asked the bathroom designer to knock into this to create a larger walk in shower area, rather than the tiny square we currently have.
They sent me the attached photos but im not impressed, I know its small but was hoping for more, i feel its hardly any different to how it currently is.
Im hoping to have a sliding/pocket door for more space, and we hope the corner can be knocked out opposite the toilet, it currently hides the internal soil pipe but we want to move it outside for more space. I also need some storage, Its quite dark, as the window faces north to the side of our house and neighbours. They have also not used all the cupboard space so there would be an unused void?
All ideas welcome

PRO2 years agoI agree with the above - I think they have used the space wisely and the layout will work for that size of space. The 1500mm shower is bigger and may look smaller in the images due to the perspective (which is hard to work on software).
At the moment what you do have looks even smaller for several reasons - the tiles are dark and have lots of visible grout lines and the big bulk in the corner is blocking lots of light and making it feel smaller than it may do in other rooms.
Personally, I think the layout will look OK if you change the overall scheme and use some tricks to make it feel bigger. You could also mark out 1500mm x 800 (0r whatever depth it is) on the floor in tape - this will allow you to see how big that is and feels to be in.

Comments (2)Hello Leesh, It sounds like you rather like the idea of an en-suite and so I would perhaps suggest you go with it, rather than do one thing and then re-do it later. You mention the house has one single loo.. So would this mean presumably that you would also then situate a loo downstairs? If so perhaps you might consider turning the loo into a small wet room style shower room.. A wall hung loo and small sink would give you enough room for a small shower room fully tanked of course as they are lovely. If there is a bathroom with bath for example elsewhere on the upper levels then it could be one way of dealing with this smaller space.. Alternatively you may prefer to have a walk in closet.. Mind you.. If the bedroom is large enough you may be able to incorporate a walk in closet in the room itself.. Comments (6)If you want to add an En-suite you need to post a room plan with dimensions............also, if the bed takes up all the space, how do you envisage an En-Suite and a bed? I know it sounds like a daft question...............do you want a single in there against the gable and an En-Suite? The bed looks like it would fill the room across ways also, which, if you put the En-Suite at the end you wouldn't be able to get to, as the bed would still be in the way. Just a little confused...........not difficult for me, I manage it all the time. Comments (17)Hi I think you have chosen the best and really only layout for this space. My suggestions are to look at ways to make this space the most comfortable you can, think about a minimal shallow shower tray so there isn't a big step, with the shower screen door opening into the shower and a small wall hung vanity so you have more floor space. Think about the WC position, when you sit on the WC your knees don't want to bang on the sink so I think you have to keep it fairly central on the back wall. You can get space saving short projection WC's like the Villeroy and Boch O.novo.
