Alcoves and window spaces
I am stuck for what to do with the alcoves and area by the window in our living room.
I was thinking of having some cabinets built into the left of the fireplace with some shelves but unsure if this would look strange just on one side (can't do the same on the other side due to the radiator)
There is also a large space where the window is that I am not sure what to do with. Possibly two accent chairs and a small coffee table?
Thoughts please!! 🙏

I think you can still go with the idea of cabinet units in both alcoves, even where the radiator is. Here a mesh type panel would be placed to aid the radiator. No reason why you could not replicate same style at other alcove.
Perhaps below images might inspire your own design ideas.
Plus I would put a an accent reading

Wardrobe doesn't fit alcove space
Comments (4)Thankyou for your help; Christmas break reason for delayed reply - I've sheered off a layer of the base of wardrobe and put felt on corners - it smooths over laminate flooring well. now I can't close the doors - fitted those magnetic things for push in push out but sheet weight of clothes pops them out ! But the wardrobe now fits will take a picture of finished result Haha! Comments (7)Wumi is exactly right: build a chimney breast 300mm deep and alcove cupboards and shelving 280mm deep. The chimney breast should protrude slightly further than the cupboard to make a feature. The fire surround should then be fixed to the chimney breast. If it's a gas fire, you need to take advice on materials to build the breast, as a softwood frame covered with plasterboard may not be legal as a fire hazard. 2 years agoHow about a tall freestanding bookcase on the left? I have uneven alcoves with one housing the tv on the right and a tall bookcase on the left and it does work, although your room is a lot bigger than mine. In the window I love your idea of two armchairs with a table in the middle, and a floor lamp of course!
