Living room layout help

Hi there,
We are really struggling with creating a good layout for our living room, still keeping the window, patio door, and fireplace all in place. Would be so very grateful for any suggestions. The picture below is taken from the entrance to the living room.
We use this space for TV, entertaining, playing, etc.

also dimensions of any furniture you want to keep.

I've a friend with a similar layout - He put a wall of slim storage along the wall Marie painted in her fab rendering. It was a mix of open and closed shelving. He has custom work done, but you could achieve similar with the slim ikea shoe storage units. He put his sofa backing onto this area, effectively creating an entry corridor along the back of the sofa as you come in. The TV is then in the alcove opposite the sofa, next to the front window. Worked well for a couple with no children. As we all Wfh now, one of the alcoves could be a location for a nice desk, with some storage above or below to hide away the work papers etc.

Hi Becky, I have some possible layout ideas, as I am unsure of the room measurements some of the layouts my not be possible. You may notice I have added a chair/armchair, layout 5 is pretty much what you have now, by adding the chair brings the room together as (like you said) bringing it off the wall. Sometimes a room needs breaking up. Think flow, how much of the space you actually use and what furniture you use most, for example: access to the toy box will be essential but do you always need access to the dresser, in which case layout 6 may be better? Layout 3 doesn’t flow so well but it might work for you as it brings furniture off the walls while still being able to keep an eye on the kids playing in the corner. I hope these ideas help or create new ideas.

Hi Chelsey, That's a lovely big space! I have put together a floor plan option for you with the sofa opposite your fireplace and a cosy reading area by the window. Depending on where exactly your fireplace is located, you can create a lovely contemporary composition with your TV. Have a look at the quick model I have put together. Heres where the TV is Minnie, i think it probably is a bit of an awkward location for it but the room layout with two doors and an archway make it difficult to place. i really appreciate both of your suggestions, definitely want to get a bigger rug at some point, we only got the one we have from ikea (it was fairly cheap) just to see how a rug worked and we both love how it breaks the wooden floor up as it can feel a bit cold. Minnie, I did orginally have the larger sofa under the lights but then the smaller sofa looked lost against the other wall but I think you might be right and for symmetry it would be better swapped over. ive never thought about a lamp! thats a good idea actually! yes Minnie the country/rustic style is very much my look. the kitchen is a similar style too. Again thank you both for your help. lots of food for thought and ideas we can use. firstly to fing a bigger rug and a floor lamp!

Picture is quite blurry but from what I can see how about swooping the sofa and the armchairs? Also is the bookcase moveable? I wonder if it would look better on the opposite wall between the patio doors and the other door. I’m not sure if any of this will fit in the spaces though. Can you share more pictures?

I have created a floor plan with measurements (hope the picture is clear).

The room is 6.97 x 4m, the entrance door is a little inside, so the room is not a perfect rectangle.

There is a window (1.5m), a fireplace next to it (1.4m) and a sliding door leading to the garden (2.25m)

The sofa we have is a corner sofa plus a 3 seater, in total it is 4.11x2.84m. We can replace the sofas in future. But not immediately.

The book case is movable (they are ikea book cases).

We are thinking of making the wall with book case, into a TV wall unit (so tv will move from corner to centre of that wall).

The TV is 65inch, so wouldn't fit above the fire place and even if it did the distance between sofa and TV would be very less.
