Kitchen Help pls!

I’m looking at this house with a cashmere coloured jitchen. I’d like to add a sideboard/dresser/cabinet and a dining room table and chairs to the kitchen but I’m really stumped of what style and colour to go for any suggestions please?

Is your other old furniture moving with you as it would be good to keep the style consistent ie scandi, industrial etc. Do you have any preference for materials? I don’t think you’re really limited to style, a modern kitchen but looks like a new build with classic features? You can just accessorise the kitchen in your preferred style.

Is that carpet in the dining area and do you have a better pic of the kitchen floor?

Wood goes with so much, so a wooden table and taupe chairs. You could try dark charcoal chairs if you want to lift the scheme a bit.

Hello Marina, What about having something that has a bit of both... light and dark... Lino is a good way to go as it can be easily maintained and there is lino and lino! Attaching a few images to show you what I mean... Sinclair Till has an absolutely fantastic range... I have attached a few of some complimentary colours and something really bright which could also work... All depends on what you like... I think they have an absolutely amazing range... They do plain colours as well but these here offer a texture in the form of pattern and colours that would detract from any muddy prints.. big or small! ... Lino is also perhaps easier as it is not textured and may be nicer to play around for the kiddies : ))

Hello Sarah, There is a possibility that you have combined sewage in that location. I can see a drainage pipe from the roof on the front of the house. Have a look down the street and see if there are any other houses with bathrooms or drainage on the front or contact your local Building Control who will confirm. I have no idea how important the number of bedrooms are for your needs but you could forfeit the third bedroom. Alternatively have a smaller kitchen area. as the second plan and take a small chunk out of the bedroom, probably less is needed than I have indicated. If your budget allows then remove the chimney, but it is not necessary. I would take out the walls around the stair to below as that will make the space much broader. and also give the space a funky feel to it. Add some velux windows with shafts down into the kitchen dining space. I am not sure why there is no window onto the garden, perhaps look into that on your deeds and see if it could be allowed. The kitchen may be better located towards the front of the house on the first plan so that any seated area is not adjacent to a circulation route/ corridor space. Set the roof windows in a neat pattern of 2 or 3 over that space as it will help to tie it together as one. I am not sure how often you would use the front small bedroom but it could be opened out as part of the living room now and when you eventually sell, put back as a bedroom.. Hope that helps Roger

Ok I might have overdone it, I ended up with 4 layouts. Oh well, here we go (left to right): 1. Completely open plan, letting in light front to back (plus some rooflights over the kitchen). Kept understairs storage. Utility cupboard, toilet and boiler 'room' on the side. Spacious feel. 2. Again kept understairs (coats, vacuum, shoes and whatnot, we all need storage). Toilet on the right and utility on the left, sort of like a passageway. Similar to the architect's idea, but I'm not keen on the traffic lines in his floorplan. Kitchen in the back, lounge in the front, dining in the middle. 3. Spacious lounge in the back, kitchen in the middle (quite dark but a proper light plan would solve this), dining at the front. And an extra hallway with understairs storage, utility cupboard and toilet (next to soil pipe, plus small rooflight). 4. No extension ! Instead removed the chimney and used the darker mid-section of the house for toilet and utility. If you have any questions or requests, feel free to send me a message! Hi, if these are going over the island, rather than over a walk way you should be fine however, I would consider what height they will be incase they block your view of sight

I think decide on the type of look you like first. Doing lots of research on Houzz will help. Are you looking for scandi style or something like warm industrial? Are you a careful person or do you want something that will stand up to the daily knocks of family life? Do you have small children? These are all questions that affect your choices. I have bought high maintenance furniture and it's a lot of work. What colours do you like? There are so many options that it's mindblowing. More information needed as Minnie says.

My children are older so don’t need to be too careful! I’m really not sure what style to go for. I like greens/burnet orange/teal etc. had navy in my old house so would like to go for something totally different.im thinking maybe in the alcove use it as a bar/coffee area? With maybe a statement chair?

Bar/coffee area would look great. You could have a sideboard and add some floating shelves above it. There are so many beautiful chairs about and for great prices too. If you like boucle in a neutral colour try John Lewis anyday elephant chair and footstool. Or where saints go has really good statement chairs for great prices.
