Looking for inspiration for how to transform this current floorplan into the house of our dreams.
Ideally downstairs we would have:
Large living, dining, kitchen
Seperate utility
Seperate living room
WC
Upstairs 4 beds, 2 baths
Single storey extension and extend above current garage?
Double storey extension out the back?

Your floorplan is really logical which is a bonus. It depends on your budget. I would look at knocking down walls between the kitchen, lounge and dining room first to see if that would give you enough space without building an extension. Do you need more bedrooms? If you don't a single storey extension would look fantastic with rooflights or even a glass roof and give you a lot more living space. Does your garden face south?

Your existing layout has great potential, and your ideas for extensions make a lot of sense! A double-storey extension out the back could give you the spacious open-plan kitchen, dining, and living area you want, while an extension above the garage could create space for that fourth bedroom and second bathroom.

For downstairs, you could use part of the garage or extend slightly to create a separate utility room. Knocking through the kitchen, dining, and lounge into one space would make it feel much more open, with big doors leading to the garden. Keeping a separate living room (maybe using the current lounge or dining space) would be a great way to maintain a cozy retreat.

Upstairs, adding an en-suite to the new main bedroom over the garage could give you a fantastic master suite, while a double-storey rear extension could allow for four well-sized bedrooms.

Which side of your house would it face? If it is South it is a common problem for it to be too cold in winter and too hot in summer. Underfloor heating is great in garden rooms I'm not sure about orangeries. When we built our kitchen extension we had underfloor heating with a gas boiler and it was really warm in winter. It was exceptionally well insulated though.

It will not cost you much if you demolish walls and replace max of things with plywood separators etc. The Bedroom 2 is big enough to transform it into 2 bedroom. Make the bathroom smaller by replacing the bathtube with a shower basin. The bathtube is old time fashion, today people can not spend too much time taking a long bath. If you need to take a long bath, use the jacuzzi of your favorite sport/leisure center. Divide the bedroom 2 with 2 layered plywood with rockwool in between. Wood + rockwool are two super sound insulators. And they are solid for hanging anything on them. Use 1 cm thickness plywood for 2 covering. More than that would not be necessary. Buy the not veneered cheapest plywood. The surface decoration is necessary if you use them for furniture, for house deco it is not necessary. You can paint the plywood. If you are mid level carpenter you can mostly do these walls by yourself, and it will make cheaper. Also if by mistake you cut with little mistakes, you can hide them with baseboard. Do not stress when doing these, take your time, you will enjoy doing it. If you get stuck, and need help ask a woodworker, he/she will do marvels for sure.

I'd suggest living in it for a year and then decide what you actually need. It's perfectly liveable as it is, and it makes sense to see how you live there before taking on a renovation. Maybe you just need to knock through from kitchen to dining? Maybe you don't need a sofa in that room as you never actually sit there - or if you do have a sofa in there, you never use the front sitting room - so what's the front room for? Maybe the kitchen would be better in the dining space so it's in-between the front room and the back space? Maybe knocking through from front room to dining makes more sense? The other question is how much money do you want to spend? Fifi McGee was going to extend her kitchen but they ended up not doing it, worth checking her blog out.
