Design Dilemma Kitchens Furniture

kitchen help please

Does this furniture go with this kitchen? I’m thinking not but getting desperate to find anything that would go. I need a round dining table and some sort of sideboard board can anyone help please? Thank you

I think it suits. It offers a bit of a contrast and then texture with the wooden components.

I think it’s mixing two styles. Since your kitchen is modern and architectural you need the same against.

Given how the kitchen is a low contrast scheme I can see the attraction to choosing something bolder. However in my opinion the way to make this work is to choose mid century or contemporary furniture, choose a pale colour or a pale wood. Add visual interest by having a marble table top or a textured fabric on chairs.

Then create the contrast to this low contrast scheme by painting the walls a strong colour.

Search for a “ceramic dining table”, “modern lowboard” and “Italian dining chair” for inspiration.

Hi. Sorry but I assumed the supporting walls would be marked in some way! I'll get the upper plans on here but issues are - poor kitchen layout because door pavement gives an offset track out to the garden and splits the kitchen leaving a dead space. Theirs a distinct lack of storage there too and a restricted working space in the u- shaped area as only one person can be there working. There is an archway between living room and dining room at present which gives a long narrow sitting room and furniture placement is difficult to avoid blocking a way through. Also the door from the dining room opens across the archway, about half the door width. The corridor out to the hall is narrow and dark and seems to be wasted space. It's barely the width of the door and has no door casing on one side. If I'm investing in a new kitchen I'd like to se if I can make the space flow better.

How do I make a tall bank of units work in this kitchen? Help please!

Thanks for the comment @Ellie. Yes the door into the kitchen is top left. What you have suggested is actually what is on the plan. The problem we're having is how to join the tall bank of units on the right of the pic to the base units (large pan drawers) at the top of the pic. Will having a tall corner unit look too overpowering? I can't get a good 3d picture on the planner I am using.

I certainly agree with the comment about making the utility room door open outwards. We had a decent sized, but fairly narrow, bathroom to renovate. The door was about halfway down the long side and making the door open outwards made all the difference. So far as your supporting pole is concerned, this might be of interest - take a look at the final photo where the pillar has been boxed in with mirrors. Jonathan has stolen my comments! Try Vinterior or Scandium, Holloways of Ludlow, Nordic Nest or Royal Design for scandinavian furniture. If budget is an issue then try Zara, Sklum or habitat. Clean lined modern architectural style never looks good with farmhouse oak style furniture. Buy or look online at Elle Decoration and Living, etc for the latest styles. Enki magazine is very minimalist too and ideal for your kitchen style

Totally agree with Jonathan. Midcentury vintage pieces would be amazing. For a quick fix, Ikea have a few great pieces in their new Stockholm 2025 collection. I would choose natural oak (real or veneer) finish to provide some warmth next to the kitchen units.
