I would lose the wooden counter top and pull out larder. Put the hob next door but one to the sink with an extractor above. This will break up the run of wall units. Also think about when you are cooking pasta, filling up a saucepan with water and then draining it. You don't need to cross the room. Where you going to put bin, dishwasher and microwave? I would agree you need more drawers. I love my new pan drawers they hold alot. But my pull out larder does not and things fall down the back all the time. Also when you are taking something out of the oven, where are you going to put it? I never understand why designers put oven and fridges next to one another.

Shan M - I never did do the brick slips in the end! I managed to salvage a wall to the side of the kitchen so ended up just painting the back kitchen wall in the same colour as the units (well itt's a different tone due to the paint finish) and it's quite dramatic and I love it. If I had done brick slips, they would have gone on afterwards and been fitted around the units to save money. retrospectively, the brick slips cost the same as a full brick and although the original builder said it would be cheaper to tile with slips rather than to build a brick wall, the actual bricklayer (after he finished the job) disagreed! He said he could have done block work up the units and bricked all the exposed areas. Probably would have cost the same as tilers are not cheap! Doh.

@rinq - hi! Yes I’m a regular on here, HA HA. Had a whole house to rip apart and redo so ... ;0) Can’t centre the one above the oven as it’s just a door and it’s high so the handle has to stay where it is. Decided it might look better if we do all the upright handles in the small ones (so fridge freezer and above the oven and on the two doors on base units) and the wide handles on all the pulls ie under the oven - dishwasher next to it and then every other base unit. Can’t get away from having the two handles the same next to each other which bugs me but at least if we do it that way, it has a purpose. LOL

I would go with a white porcelain or ceramic sink. No need to worry about seeing hard water spots with them. And you can add some contrast to the monochrome scheme by using brass / gold taps. We had to skip our intended quartz worktops because of timing issues (long story involving family visits and lockdown), but nearly 2 years on we have been very happy with our Duropal 20mm Carrera laminate worktops. I don’t expect them to last “forever” like I might for quartz or granite, but its also nice to not cook in fear of potentially damaging a very expensive investment either.
