Hi UK Design Man In my opinion adding light into the vaulted ceiling really lifts the room and adds depth to the whole environment. You can achieve this using pendants (the Le Soleil would look great), wall uplighters (such as the Elle wall light) or recessed floor lights (like the Tera 7). Adding in an extra circuit for floor or table lamps gives the room the versatility it needs to adapt to your mood. Hope this helps, Rich Darklight Design

be careful you don't overload the circuit. nice idea having lots of bulbs but work out the amps / watts / volts on your ahem 'ring', I put that in quotes because most UK homes are indeed not 'ring' but in fact long spares connected by one 15 - 20 amp wire designed to run about 15 x 40watt bulbs. Consider a transformer running more low volt low amp options - like LEDs. there are plenty of types that match industrial retro bulb filaments. Also think about the safety of wiring. Most people don't realise that coiling wires and hanging things from metal can affect the current and earth regulations of 'lamps'. high current / fire / safe earthing eyebrows raising. The beauty of a bought option is it will probably have some form of certification and testing involved. We did something similar in an office and each tail connected on a single 12v transformer to an led bulb without an Inverter(cheaper longer lasting). Same effect much safer. It replaced the 'ever exploding bulb spider that was always making the dimmer switches melt option' that ran on 240v looked great, but wasn't really thought through.

I think you would actually be ok with taking the color over it all. It probably depends more on how you wanted the room to feel. The current lighter tone gives space to the room, but your selection Oval Room Blue, would probably give you a more intimate feel. With white items such as wardrobes etc, it could end up giving a coastal feel which you could build on as a theme with linen bedclothes, lampshades, blinds.

In the snug area a rich coloured sofa and a rug ( to be selected ) 7. Cove lighting along the apex 8. Near the chimney breast a long dining table ( to be selected ) 9. Cabinets along with the chimney breast ( to be selected ) I agree - we need a colour which will be deep and will contrast with the grey concrete acupanel media unit - love the idea of the copper /toffee - will it be a sufficient contrast against the adjacent skimming stone walls ? Would you wallpaper/or can you suggest a colour? What about the Hague Blue - that is quite a deep colour? and I could offset that will some copper /toffee decorations on the back wall ? Also I would like a pop of colour near the dining area . My immediate task is to choose a colour for the backwall as the decorator is in within a couple week and the media unit will be installed the week after . Do i just play it safe and do the back wall skimming stone - and change the back wall colour later - or is there a colour that is an obvious choice ?
