Basement bedroom decor help urgently needed please!
Comments (6)Hi. I think any dark, rich colour could work well (would paint the skirts in the wall colour) but if you didn't want to paint the furniture either a really deep teal or inky blue would work well. Perhaps use ochre or burnt orange as accent colours or moss or emerald/grass green work really well with an inky blue. I assume the ceilings aren't tanked so you'll need a ceiling fix pole? Having floor to ceiling curtains will make it feel taller. I'd also have a tall portrait leaner mirror on the wall opposite the window to make it feel taller and to bounce light (do you know where the stud work is for attaching things to walls?) Could you have a light weight canvas hung on the chimney breast attached with those sticky pads? Agree re lighting and would also add 1/2 floor lamps. Is an electric stove in budget for the chimney? My only reservation is dark walls against a white ceiling. I think my basement is the same height and I deliberated for ages and in the end painted it all white :) there is an argument that dark ceilings can create depth as you can't see where they end.. also an argument re white gloss or Matt finish for the ceilings! If you did go for dark walls though i might consider a mid shade for the ceiling...See MoreBedroom decor help
Comments (4)I would steer clear from matching the colours in the artwork with the walls, with the exception of the plum colour. Deep couloirs show artwork to its best so a strong, deep plum in just one wall would make the print stand out. If you don’t want to go so dark, go for white (Or a very delicate off white like timeless from dulux). In both cases you can have bed linen in a blue and white pattern, add a yellow throw and some plum and yellow accessories....See MoreHelp decorating bedroom
Comments (4)Thank you MIs G and minnie101 for your suggestions and minnie101 thank you for the photoshop, really helps to visualise it better. It makes sense, the plugs call my attention because there is nothing in that wall. I'll see if I can find a narrow piece of furniture as suggested and perhaps hang a mirror. I like the panelling too, but can't visualise it if it's only in that wall and I would still want access to the plugs, justs in case. I'm going to buy the acessories for the bed, need to decide what colors to choose from 🙂 I like quite a few. Thanks again! I'll go for the plant and the...See MorePlease help! Comments (7)Would you consider going towards a bluey green for your back wall? Think of a peacock, where blues & greens are so vibrant. Could be anything ranging from turquoise to teal to duckegg etc. It's such a big room, it could take some drama. The problem looking at it now is that the wall is so bland & deadens the green. Then you can add highlight colours with bed cushions & bedlinen. Have a couple of sets of cushion covers to change into every couple of months, to match the bedlinen. Or use all white bedding & change cushions d throws. IKEA does a small cushion with a turquoise cover, & you can buy other covers separately eg mustard, red. And have a look at Boogaloo Boutique. She up cycles furniture by covering it in wallpaper. Amazing stuff. You could get 2 matching chests of drawers from her. You might have to wait a bit for her to find 2 matching ones, or go for 2 similar ones, as they'll have same paper. I'd recommend the Bethan Gray paper in turquoise. It's divine....See More- 10 months ago
