Everyone, thank you so much, this has been really useful! A few responses: 1) I'd intended putting open shelves to the right of the ensuite shower. 2) The bathroom designer put the main bathroom sink in the alcove like some of you... 3) I don't want a bidet, sorry! 4) The main view of bathroom is from left as that is the top of the stairs. 5) Not sure about curved bath, need to fit two toddlers in! Will think about bath next to window though as it would give more space to kneel washing said toddlers. 6) The ensuite currently has sink under window and toilet to right but hard to access cupboards where I have put open shelving. Apart from that it works well so not sure about messing with something that works! Thanks again, will talk over with hubby!

I'd be tempted to go for a dark wooden seat to contrast with the pale decor and suite. The main thing is to make sure the seat is a perfect fit to the toilet pan so it looks really good. That could be easier said than done but an online search may help you find just what you're looking for. Argos has some brightly coloured seats in their "Colour Match" range but I'm not sure they are the right shape for your toilet. Might be worth a look though. Maybe you could accessorise towels etc to match! Angie

Assuming that is your washstand the tile is against I would tile the floor with the same tile to avoid you having too many different flat surfaces in a small space (assuming you can get it in a floor quality tile). Given the light situation I would paint a feature wall in a deep colour to add contrast to an otherwise fairly white room. Against this tile I like Farrow and a ball Downpipe- don't forget to buy a wipeable matt finish.

I don't think you'll be able to put a bathroom there at all. The drainage is on the wrong side of the house. ( Presuming that you want to put it in the L shape in the master bedroom?) Unless of course you have access to drains at the front of the house as well as the rear. You might however, be able to split the Master Bedroom in to two bedrooms and use bedroom 3 as the bathroom.As for moving the downstairs loo, the same applies, depends entirely on which way your joists go ( if it's floorboards ), if it's concrete, you'd have to dig out to get to the manhole, which is out the back on the right. You could possibly put a macerating toilet in, but you'd have to get a builder round to see about the drop required.
