I think it depends on future plans. If you continue to rent will you look for furnished or unfurnished? You also need to think about whether you will buy a house in the future. If you plan on doing this it is worth looking at neutral furnishings that are not overly large that can fit in any space. Generally speaking I think it is better to buy quality furniture which lasts. However, if you are unsure about future plans then don't overspend on basics but maybe invest in a couple of pieces that are built to last and won't date. Do also look at ebay, where you can get either new or really good secondhand furniture if you shop around. You can also rent furniture, I've no idea on the price but may be worth exploring.

Bed looks fine where it is really. You might want to add colour/interest with paint a new bedhead or some artwork maybe, but not necessary as you could probably achieve a nice look just using accents (cushions/throws that co-ordinate with window treatment). As for the windows, you probably don't want to limit your space by having anything too fussy, but a nice pair of matching Roman blinds would allow you to add texture, pattern if you want it and colour that you can then co-ordinate other things with. If you want a luxurious feel you could add pelmets to them (but nothing too fussy or they might overpower the room). Photo from www.housetohome.

Hi there I am looking for some help with the set up of doors and windows for the opening on our second story extension. I was originally going to put in the accordion style doors so the whole wall can open up to outside but I have been put off because of all of the ‘frames’ required. The opening for the main balcony is 4.7metres (width) by 2.1 metres (height) The other opening (not pictured) is 5.6 metres wide. This leads out to a thin balcony which will hav no furniture and joins to the main one where I will put some seating. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what combination of doors and windows would work best? Thank you for your help

It's a lovely room. Are you buying new furniture or trying to make your existing furniture work because an L shaped sofa might work well in the space and allow for two separate zones. Also, how many people do you need seating for? Can you get away with a small dining table for every day that extends for visitors?
