A sophisticated whole-home interior designed by Tailored Living Interiors for a luxury apartment at Pico House, Battersea Power Station — one of London's most iconic Frank Gehry-designed residences. The brief called for a scheme that felt both refined and practical: a London base for the client, with broad appeal as a high-end rental when abroad. The result blends contemporary elegance with bespoke functionality — high-street and high-end pieces working together seamlessly, layered with rich textures, considered lighting and tailored details throughout. From the curved bouclé sofa and brass coffee table in the living room to the teal headboard bedroom and space-saving floating vanity in the twin room, every decision was made with both lifestyle and longevity in mind. The drawing room cabinetry was finished in Little Greene Windmill Lane and featured tongue & groove paneling around the fireplace and in the back of the shelving units. We ran the coving around the front of the cabinetry, as well as using the same skirting throughout the room to create a built-in effect.

Sally was asked to design and oversee the complete refurbishment of this stunning yet poorly converted one bedroom apartment set in a handsome period mansion block on the outskirts of Covent Garden in Central London. Enormously high ceilings give this apartment a New York lofty feel while large original windows flood the space with natural light. Sally discovered that original windows and decorative pillars had been boarded up and so immediately set about reinstating these unique period features. A streamlined kitchen with expansive lightly veined worktops and contemporary oak cabinetry was designed to compliment a classic oak parquet floor, giving the apartment a light, contemporary and natural feel. Rich tones of walnut, brushed brass, shades of tobacco and forest green leather, chocolate velvet and earthy linens were all added to create a layered and eclectic palette set against a backdrop of atmospheric teal and interesting off-beat light fittings.

The deep, inky-toned paint was used to wrap the whole room, creating drama and luxury. The period features from this double-fronted reception room were fully restored and the fireplace was restored. We chose a warm wood for the floor, in a herringbone pattern to add a sense of warmth and luxury. A 1920s sofa was reupholstered, alongside a vintage cocktail chair, keeping the palette consistent, and allowing the pops of colour to come from the artwork and feature lighting. The pink Murano glass chandelier is a dramatic focal point, both playful and theatrical. We introduced touches of brass to complement the colours and textures. The velvet on the furniture gives a sense of inviting comfort. Bespoke roman blinds, also in the colour palette of the space, allow lots of light into the room and do not intrude on the sofa placed against the window.

The snug is directly connected to the kitchen and designed as an open, kid-friendly space. We used the owners’ sofa here so accidental spills wouldn’t cause a major issue. To future-proof the space, we introduced two fireplace alcoves creating useful games storage, with a small bar area for entertaining.

The living room in our Wandsworth Common Family Home is painted in a soft green which feels elegant & cosy, and is joined by a velvet sofa, a pair of mid-century leather armchairs & alcove cupboards with reeded door fronts

The client fell in love with this colour green so we decided to fully lean in and envelop the space in its cosy embrace. As with so many projects a key thing for this client was storage so we created some built-in cupboards and shelves in the existing alcoves and painted these in a complementary green satin paint to bounce the light around. There are quirky objects and art aplenty in this room, the lighting is a nod to the client’s childhood favourite author, P G Wodehouse, others are displayed with the client’s large collection of interior design books. The client felt that using sustainable options was important, so I sourced all the furniture from second hand sources. The sideboard was a bargain from Facebook Marketplace that was stripped back, paint washed and given new hardware. The footstool provides extra seating, was reupholstered to complement the scheme and doubles as a coffee table with a tray on top. The antique display cupboard came from the client’s childhood home and houses more treasured objects.
