2014 Strathmore Urban Home
With weather-exposed, steep sites commonplace in Wellington, this project made ideal use of the challenging site and its environment. Our clients' brief was to create a modern family home maximising the stunning views, light and connection to the landscape. The design solution was a clever response to the uneven terrain, creating a multi-level home that steps down the section making the most of its size and surroundings.
Cascading down its sloping section, this cleverly designed 3-bedroom plus study home presents only one of its two levels to the street with desirable drive-on access. Split according to their use, the living and entertaining areas are on the top level oriented towards the landscape to showcase the picturesque views, whilst the private sleeping spaces are tucked away on the lower floor for privacy.
