Art of the Floor
Bespoke Herringbone Marble Floor.
A butterfly wings at a microscopic level was the inspiration behind this stunning marble floor.
While sourcing the marble we selected eight marble types that would work together towards our vision. We eventually settled on five.
Using the floor plan of the hall, we overlaid the framework of the herringbone and digitally positioned each of the 900 tiles, testing viewings angles and considering future furniture.
After various options and positioning of the artwork, the client and I finalised on this one.
The preparation of the floor to ensure stability was vital. The tilers were briefed and followed the artwork with perfection to get each tile positioned correctly.
The reaction from first-time visitors to this home when they walk through the front door is worth all of the effort.
