C.P. Hart Case Study: The Department Store

The Department Store saw the commercial redevelopment of an Edwardian department store into architectural firm Squire & Partners’ office space in Brixton, London. C.P. Hart was chosen to supply the washrooms for this esteemed project.

Original features were preserved throughout the building, such as the teak flooring, installed in 1906, and the grand central staircase. In the bathrooms, walls were stripped back to their original brickwork, with untouched Crittall windows and cast-iron radiators nodding to the building’s industrial foundation. To harmonise with The Department Store’s historic fabric, C.P. Hart selected Samuel Heath Landmark Industrial brassware in the Urban Brass finish, with Xenon accessories and bespoke pull handles to match.
