We recently completely renovated and re-roofed this property in Sowerby Bridge, Halifax.. Our brief included keeping the look of the renovations similar to the original building externally while bringing it up-to-date internally; bringing it back to it's former glory with modern high-tech additions for maximum insulation and low cost fuel bills.

In recent years the properties had been used as offices / joinery work shop but now thanks to the renovation work have been restored into two heritage dwellings, across three floors, fitting in well in an area which in recent years has seen substantial regeneration.

Although now standing in a conservation area of Sowerby Bridge, these two properties are the only two domestic dwellings remaining in Corporation Street.

The work carried out by Ploughcroft has managed to improve the properties’ energy performance certificate (EPC) from an F rating to a C. As a result, both properties will now benefit from huge money savings, reducing their energy bills by a massive 63%.

One of our customers, Mr Keith Schofield, was born at No. 3 and reliably informs us that the properties in Corporation Street were occupied as domestic dwellings during the 1930’s and 1940’s. No’s 3, 5, 7 and 9 were subsequently demolished and no.s 14 and 16 (the ones we renovated) condemned for domestic occupancy around 1940.
Mr Schofield said: “I’m delighted to see these homes returned to their former glory after years of being wasted while they sat derelict. The street holds so many memories having grown up here and I can remember playing out in the street like it was just yesterday. It’s lovely to know that other families will now get to enjoy these new homes and build their own memories here.”
